The website is almost ready, with the final possible hitch being the set up of the payment gateway, but that is in the hands of Chris at Aeolidia (I just handed it wholesale to him, with all my passwords and such because I didn't understand a word of what is API, XML etc, and he is very kindly taking care of it for me!! Thank you so much Chris!!)

So, today, I decided to take a stock-taking of my new designs. it's kind of interesting, I just made whatever catches my fancy, with some broad collection guidelines, and it turned out to be quite a varied yet cohesive collection! I absolutely love everything, and I hope people will like them too. =)

Here are the numbers (new designs only):

Number of new designs: 70 (I know I promised 80, but I think I overestimated myself!)
Price range: $35- $825
One of a kind pieces: 48
Number pieces costing $120 and under: 48
Earrings: 31
Necklaces: 36
Bracelets: 3

I know, it doesn't really reveal anything much about the designs themselves, but i hope i piqued your interest! =)

Monday, March 10, 2008 emails!

little things with the website excite me! today i set up official email accounts for pequitobun, so you can email me at info, or mailinglist, etc. so nice and official!

and, check out tomorrow's milestone:

things might get delayed a little bit because my picture requests are giving Arianne a bit of a headache, but I'm going to get to add my items to the shop soon, plus, all the info pages.

exciting!! i just realised that we're going to be in DC march 28-31st to watch the cherry blossoms (i hope they start blooming then??) and throw rocks at the white house (just kidding, Mr. Secret Service) so I have to be very efficient on my end because the designers on the rise feature starts april 1st and if i'm very lucky the site can be ready by then. i'll have to do the site testing etc in DC.

*fingers crossed*

if not, it's ok, ill get to see the pandas in the DC zoo!

p.s. two new items in the etsy shop, kimono and monotone daisies!

Phone salesman amazes crowd

hey i rarely forward email forwards, but i had to share an email that my sister forwarded to me. brought tears to my eyes.

Speakers on?

This is a story about a guy, a guy like most of us -- common, questioning his existence, measuring himself to others, never believing in his abilities or his worth.

Watch the faces of the judges as this guy walks out on the stage. You can almost see what they're thinking as they pre-judge this guy based on his looks and the fact that here's a cell phone salesman.

Maybe this guy stopped believing in what people told him for so many years and ultimately started listening to his passion.

Go on, Click on the site below ....... turn on your speakers!!

press and media

I've been very extremely lucky to have had awesome bloggers, especially Jena at Modish, write about pequitobun over the last two years, because they have helped me to reach audiences that I never would have on my own. So, I want to say to all of them, Thank you so much!!

Thinking about it, I realised that I've slacked off from doing any PR since the early days of pequitobun, when I was emailing many blogs and trying to get pequitobun seen amongst the crowded seas of jewelry. So, one of my goals for this year is to combine my website launch with a concerted PR effort. Towards this, one of the main projects I have been working on is my media kit. I finally got it all put together this weekend, and I am really happy with it!

Since it contains many of my new designs, which I want to keep under wraps until the site launch in a month, I'm smooshing the image to a really small size =). But, since I've worked so hard on it, I had to announce it! It is a six page kit, and I still have to figure out the packaging and whether I want to attach a CD.

Next, I have to research the magazines and blogs that I will send the kit to. It's kind of a dilemma because the site is not yet ready, but magazines have lead times of about 3 months, so, theoretically, the earlier I get in contact with editors, the better. I guess it should be ok, since I see in magazines that they sometimes only have phone numbers of the retailers/designers, and no website? With the online media, I think lead times are much shorter, maybe 2 weeks- 1 month, so I can wait until the site launch or close to that. I guess we'll find out!

website updates

we're really getting into the thick of things now with the website! arianne has more than exceeded every single possible expectation place on her by the reputation of aeolidia, and i cannot be happier with how things are turning out. i LOVE my site design, and can't wait for the site to be finished.

first, she made me a super lovely logo, well, i'm still trying to decide between these two permutations, so any comments are very much appreciated:

And then she just totally designed the site i wanted when even I didn't know what that would look like! i'm so so glad that she had the time for my project.

anyways, on another note, i received the most stunning swiss blue topaz the other day, i had to share. they are cut exactly like princess-cut gems, but drilled like a briolette. just delicious and gorgeous. yum.

you can see them on top of the paper i was reading feverishly when i was writing my review.

today is a day of designing, writing the info pages for the website, thinking about press kits, playing with pequito and general relaxation!

speaking of pequito, he's finally taken to A home that I bought for him. i've bought him quite a few bunny homes in the past two years (yes, he's 2 years old!), but he's never liked living in any of them, preferring to sleep under our bed or in a corner somewhere. but, the other day we were in a general pet store buying his supplies when i saw this adorable cat house thing, and thought i would give it another try (i just want him to have somewhere to snuggle in cos i know bunnies like that).

he sleeps in it every night now!! voila! (the bits of stuff in and around the house are a mixture of his favourite hay and bits of carpet/rug that he digs and rips apart. he's totally spoilt)
